Empire Lofts at Mosque St
The project is located along Mosque Street in one of the quieter stretches in the historic Chinatown district. No 42-45 Mosque Street.
The site was once occupied by Chinese and Tamil schools. These existing buildings were built by The Singapore Improvement Trust to house customs officers in the 1930s. It was known in Cantonese as “Wong Kar Lau”. A unique feature then, was the introduction of wide back lanes that resolved sanitary problems and encouraged the residents to interact.
ACT Holdings Pte Ltd, having a passion for conservation projects, saw a gem beyond the dirt and grime and proceeded to transform these buildings into the exquisite residential apartments known as EMPIRE LOFTS.
Completed in 2004, it won the 2006 URA Architectural Heritage Award
